Adam (@Adam_Goldman) reported from Fairhaven, Victoria4 years of slow @NBN_Australia constant drop outs. 6 technician appointments. Numerous ‘repairs’ to the node. Yesterday they worked out we were connected to the wrong node, 2km away rather than the one they had been fixing 200 metres away. Thanks, all good now…

Rob Khouri (@Robkhouri) reported@JEChalmers So passing unfunded time bombs such as NDIS & your **** NBN plan just before you were turfed means nothing? Glad you don't do my budget!
-
Garfield C. Reynolds (@GarfieldR1966) reported@NBN_Australia Here I am almost 2 weeks later and still regular interruptions while NBN lists our address as subject to network degradation. I have contacted my provider and they then check with NBN and I am told work is ongoing. But nothing gets fixed!!!!
-
Mezmarr (@Mezmarr) reported@NBN_Australia @NBN_Australia still no internet. Guess I'll just tell my work that you guys will cover the losses incurred by being down.
-
Andrew Godman (@Andrew_Godman) reported@fjzeit And to think Labor just wanted to build this for the same cost the Libs spend 😜 I won’t forgive them given I had really bad non nbn internet during the start of Covid while I had to work from home
-
Tính (@tinhtrann) reported@cb_doge The rural numbers are the real story imo. NBN was supposed to fix that gap and Starlink just walked in and did it faster.
-
shauna cohn (@shaunacohn) reported@Cassy090909 @Starlink Be alright if we could actually GET NBN!! Did you know some areas still don’t have nbn and so are at the mercy of ineffective private companies charging money for a half arsed service - try Gold Coast Coomera for example - noooothing, starlink charge up an upfront fee of $1365…

Topher Field (@TopherField) reportedI've said time and again that the NBN is a white elephant, and that it would be destroyed by competition... IF competition were allowed. Of course like-for-like competition is NOT allowed... the NBN have a monopoly on wired internet... but guess what? They're STILL being out-competed by the private sector anyway, because wireless technology has come a LONG way fast... After all the tens of billions we've spent, Australia still only ranks 43 on internet speeds (worse on some lists, I'm being generous) and still users are turning to the private sector because the NBN cannot help them where they are. Amazing. Government never makes things better, it only gets in the way of the private sector who WOULD make things better... if the government weren't in the way.

Brat (@IyBrat) reported@Batman2242 Idiot without NBN you would not have internet during COVID to jack off

Desmondbratcat (@desmondbratcat) reported@Riogallica @nbn @Starlink The only problem with starlink is they can put the price up any time they feel, I was with them 2 months and they upped the price. If you want to go elsewhere in under 12 months you have to pay for the hardware, around $500 I think. Having said that, the service is ok.

Lucidyn (@TheLucidyn) reported@UrbanHubbard @Batman2242 Turnbull botched it. The original fibre and fixed wireless sections of the NBN were worth doing. Switching to Fibre to the Curb was an expensive mistake that has already needed replacing in most areas. This isn’t a left/right issue, and that’s not my point anyway. You missed the core of my post. The NBN was and still is a good idea. It just needed far better design than the “back of a napkin” version under Rudd, and Turnbull shouldn’t have messed around with the plan the way he did. I worked with people who installed the cabnets during the transition and saw exactly what changed inside them. With over 20 years in the IT industry, I know what I’m looking at. My actual point is that comparing the NBN to Starlink is unfair. It’s like comparing the entire fixed telephone network to mobile phones in the 1990s. Mobiles were revolutionary, but they didn’t replace the fixed network they complemented it.
