  @taipan168 Many corporatised, but publicly owned, entities provide great service. NBN is pretty good for example. Even Australia Post isn’t bad. Govt doesn’t have to equal bad and is much more preferable in monopoly and quasi-monopoly environments.

  @SharkaByrne @newscomauHQ I paid extra to keep it at the time, so it would be accessible when nbn goes down. Or so I thought. Not sure what I paid extra for ( possibly another outlet )but it didn’t work, totally useless when it’s down. So much for progress.

We would Reduce ATO staff by at least half over 5 years because flat tax rates will require less compliance staff, and it is essential to reduce the possibility of the tax system regrowing; similarly, scale back agencies such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and Australian Competition and Consumer Commissioner and the laws they administer; and sell government business enterprises, including the NBN, ABC, SBS, and the Future Fund, and use the proceeds to pay down debt.   We pay the highest costs for our nbn, fttb etc yet our services are substandard, yet again, service provision in Australia fails dismally. I have made 3 calls, long wait times, non local call centre operators ie offshored. Right when Australians need jobs to pay expensive living

  @VoteLewko @Starlink Speed is latency. No satellite connection is "high speed" sick of the disinformation. Starlink is 20ms-40ms+ latency like mobile garbage is. NBN is a whopping 600ms latency. They need to keep this junk away from fibre areas where I get 2ms latency and have had since 2022.

  @sofewcharacters @VoteLewko @2GB873 Yes it is, but Starlink is terrible in cities, built up areas, and areas with lots of tree cover. It degrades pretty significantly in bad weather. It would also be terrible with a cities worth of people connected..... network congestion is a problem for satelite solutions (similar to the mobile network). Getting rid of the nbn network would be a monumentally bad idea.

  @CovfefeDnUnder @ianclarkeAU All network types have limits on the bandwidth (speed available to users), even wired ones... It's just that for fixed networks like the NBN, those limits are much, MUCH higher.

  @Rexdinasaur I worked with Conroy on the original NBN & built the first site in Kiama, it was a disaster, it cost Transgrid $10 million, not one of NBN management had ever built a network, they had no idea, never understood the unique properties of Fibre cable, Conroy would simply not listen, one deal he did cost $800 million as a stuff up, I walked away & said to my people, everyone of our competitors will chase this, lets chase the business they ignore.
