NBN have confirmed with me that we will never get 50 Mbps due to the distance we are away from the first node. They also didn’t replace the aging copper on the main street and line faults is a regular thing to happen.

Told they would be here on Saturday between 8am and 12pm. Waited all day and then called Telstra to be told NBN will be back on Wednesday. Disgraceful.

Ben (@iB3nji) reported from Tahmoor, New South Wales@stnapAtnaf @DifficultNerd It’s actually hilarious to see media reports of the NBN struggling. Remote learning/video/working, video streaming, etc, etc is exactly why a proper next-gen network should have been built.

panopticon (@harrypanopticon) reported@OMGTheMess Exactly. Not investing in Australia for 11 years now, since the NBN policy disaster basically, has never been so beneficial for my overseas company. The company made profit the moment I gave NBN Co and TPG/AAPT the flick. Never have seen consumers been ripped off collectively with the silent approval of a regulator.

I did ask for a refund for the days I have no service. So they promised to fix it within 24 hours. I also made notes, and responded to their feedback email, and summarised my notes.

The Steps (@mcnamara_team) reported@TopherField Satellite has been about forever, the government never got in its way, I had it and it was ****. I used NBN relatively successfully over inferior satellite technologies until Starlink came along. Your opinions don’t appear to align with my experiences accurately.

Phoenix Diamond (@_phoenix_btc) reported@TopherField I have a conspiratorial hypothesis that may interest you regarding NBN The backbone of the Australian military communications at home was a rotting copper wire network and needed to be replaced, but pitching the Australian public on spending billions on military getting a communications upgrade was a hard sell So instead the two majors went at each other on two different versions of the same dumb idea, fiber to the premises vs fiber to the node Now we have ****** fiber optics speeds because it's being speed capped with software, and ironically NBN is the same old HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) technology that Foxtel had installed for years 🫠

Anthony (@AnthonyPHoran) reported@jarro56 @isaacfloyd13 There was bipartisan support for the NDIS & NBN because they were popular as their projected cost were fractions of what they actually became. The NBN could have been delivered by private sector for fraction of cost & is likely to be obsolete in future.

anthony, underclass prole cat, edwards (@anthony45052793) reported@MichaelRuyg yep, when they built the NBN fixed wireless tower, that carries optus and vodafone as well, it had a backup generator. then the tower got "upgraded" with 6 months of regular outages and then next power outage we discovered the backup generator and the ability to call 000 was gone
