  The three telcos and government-owned NBN Co were left reeling when the regulator rang to notify them of its final pricing decision – a token $20m reduction to renew spectrum licences essential for carrying mobile signals. ACMA’s decision will result in the sector collectively paying peak market rates of $7.32bn to roll over their existing spectrum holdings as licences begin expiring from 2028. Much of that cost will find its way on to customer bills. More inflation incoming!

  @larrikinstreak @robb_j_m The ISP pays a significant portion of the price of a service to NBN. I don’t know where you pulled your **** from to think it was free, but perhaps go fling it somewhere else.

  The Labor Budget 🙄 So far all I see is nothing to help or support now, $250 in 2028. Ffs everyone has been left behind. We're spending more than that additionaly on groceries, fuel , insurances, nbn, etc etc. Where's the relief.

  Australia’s biggest fumbles I have seen in my lifetime so far have been missing the boat on nuclear in the 90s (I don’t believe it is worth it today) and the NBN. Anyone who caused their poor outcomes should be strung up for it.

  @robb_j_m Starlink. Prior to that we had a satellite connection through the NBN in our rural area which was a bit of a nightmare. They brought in this 'fair use' clause that if you went over a certain amount, you'd get suspended, but it was never terribly clear if you were approaching your limit. It was a rolling limit. I don't know if they still have it. Probably. And then our plan, the larger one, was removed and we were put on some weird sort of plan that gave us no real allocation where we couldn't even watch youtube. Really shabby way to treat customers. Starlink is reliable, has good speeds and no limits on usage, and we never get throttled. It's about $135 a month, but we're happy to pay. We'd never go back to NBN.
