Imagine relocating between NBN premises with the same technology type, and selling the exact same hardware to them under the pretense "it's locked to the old premises" just cop a modem purchase or recontract from the customer.

Though am using the Optus network so it's usually congested during the day and only get 50/20Mbps with my S10+ in the middle of the night xD Which is the same speed as my NBN :P

However in the time it took to send that tweet, the red light on the modem came on, so I reset it and were away. Odd that I’ve had issues two days in a row. Could it be related to the NBN construction going on.

As for the speed, I haven’t noticed anything groundbreaking. There’s room to grow!

Switching to Fibre to the Curb was an expensive mistake that has already needed replacing in most areas. This isn’t a left/right issue, and that’s not my point anyway. You missed the core of my post. The NBN was and still is a good idea. It just needed far better design than the “back of a napkin” version under Rudd, and Turnbull shouldn’t have messed around with the plan the way he did. I worked with people who installed the cabnets during the transition and saw exactly what changed inside them. With over 20 years in the IT industry, I know what I’m looking at. My actual point is that comparing the NBN to Starlink is unfair. It’s like comparing the entire fixed telephone network to mobile phones in the 1990s. Mobiles were revolutionary, but they didn’t replace the fixed network they complemented it.

The OP is claiming the NBN is obsolete. It is nothing of the sort, and the bandwidth disparity is the entire reason why, and that isn't changing anytime soon, as you say.

We have the NBN in Australia and all that happened is everyone became resellers or add on service providers. The telco's wont disappear, they just wont have to pay for infrastructure anymore and become SpaceX resellers.

It was anti competitive from the outset. Private companies (TPG notable) were prohibited from building out their own network. Regardless, I can have starlink internet now for about the same monthly price as the NBN except i didn't have to front the Capex (and debt) for it. NBN very likely has a negative ROI. I wish we judged policies by outcomes not intentions.

Wal (@wally_waldo83) reported@Batman2242 A big part of our productivity problem is that starting from the 2010's more of our spending now goes to megatech platforms that extract Australian revenue without the old local multiplier. When $100 went to Ford or Holden, a retailer or a local media company, a large portion recycled through local wages, suppliers, property, logistics and tax. Now when $100 goes to a global ad platform, streaming service or cloud provider much more can disappear offshore through IP, reseller fees and related party charges with far less local employment or supplier spend despite the use of infrastructure like NBN and roads. So government keeps importing demand and taxing workers harder to fund services while more private spending leaks offshore to low local footprint platforms. That extraction is not productive for our economy and is increasingly an issue, especially when profits are being offshored and Australian taxpayers are unfairly carrying the burden.
