@LennaLeprena @Loud_Lass I talk to people in mainland China quite a lot. They use VPNs to bypass the firewall, otherwise the only SM is the one approved by the government. Censorship is a bad idea all around, but I can absolutely imagine the bigoted wasteland ScoMo would make of our already crap NBN!

  • spokenly_ Anika Johnstone (@spokenly_) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

@MJ_Leaver The only solution I’ve been offered is to go an buy a 4g prepaid modem at our expense until we get NBN connected (although this was also promised to use before we went to the UK a year a go). Neither of us can take anymore time off work for @internode to provision

  • gdrosser Glynis Rosser (@gdrosser) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

@garydlum When my daughter moved to Canberra their house had NBN fibre optic to the door and when I stayed there recently I was blown away by the speed. It has been everything promised to them with no problems. Unlike what I am likely to get on copper wires.... supposedly in 1 year

  • heidi_helen Heidi Helen Pilypas (@heidi_helen) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

@NBN_Australia Nah, I’m just sharing my general impression and having a bit of a complain. 😜 I check the status page of our ISP when the internet goes down (there are problems at the exchange occasionally). As for the speed, I haven’t noticed anything groundbreaking. There’s room to grow!

  • LadyPoop2 Lady Pooh (@LadyPoop2) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

  • seansmith_au sean smith (@seansmith_au) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

Yet again (lost count) @FOXTEL_Help @Foxtel Now streaming is hopeless. Start, stop, loading. I have great NBN speeds, it’s your end. Trying to watch ICC Cricket. I’m tired of paying you $$$ for a crap service. I want a refund. #ffs $70 per month for this bs.

@Optus Just for your info @Optus BeIN Sports Connect is not firing up over by home NBN broadband. It is working on my Virgin (Optus) 4G but I don’t have much data. Perhaps when this is fixed you can help me move from Virgin to Optus.

@mattbowd @NBN_Australia I can’t even stream TV our current connection is so bad as we’re 4 kms from the Adelaide CBD. It’s ridiculous.

  • spokenly_ Anika Johnstone (@spokenly_) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

@amywhodigital @Archaeometry Ugh. We’re going down the prepaid 4g modem route and praying for nbn soon. I don’t understand why all of this is so hard especially for you in the CBD!!

NBN Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • AusPropJournal Australian Property Journal (@AusPropJournal) reported

@QuentinDempster @MRowlandMP Not just the regions that need NBN upgrade, urban and metro suburbs with FTC, NBN service is poor. Lucky to get 55mbps on a 100mbps plan thanks to Turnbull/Abbott govt.

  • bollgare Matt (@bollgare) reported

@DoodyDarren @BurkeHellibee @AlboMP NBN failed then. Plenty of spots on sunshine coast have no mobile network.

  • craig3352 Craig (@craig3352) reported

@SophiaMcGrane Maybe they can put a rocket up Telstra’s arse too…no point having high speed NBN if Telstra wind back bandwidth / limit services…my 5G mobile needs to be sitting on top of the Telstra tower to get average service these days. 😾

  • imboudee M (@imboudee) reported

@Foilalan_ @MrKRudd @NBN_Australia Bollocks. An inferior copper solution was forced upon us with no value. Labor opted for a high speed scalable fibre solution. Malcolm Turnbull went with existing very old copper phone lines and suggested he could not see why anyone would need more than 25Mbps.

  • DoodyDarren Darren (@DoodyDarren) reported

@bollgare @BurkeHellibee @AlboMP How wrong can you be? * Not obsolete. * Has only "failed" where the coalition nobbled it. * More expensive than what, exactly? * It is available to the vast majority of homes. Mobile coverage is all PRIVATE. Any issues there are 100% unrelated to the PUBLIC NBN.

  • riktheozfrog Rik Shepherd (@riktheozfrog) reported

So Absenteese was in Tassie giving out a few billion for their NBN. Meanwhile in the bush we have the NBN Satellite "service" ANY plans to improve this dismal, slow, expensive system soon? I'm betting not

  • anna_prole Anna Prole 13 ✊✊🤘😈 (@anna_prole) reported

@EdwardJWHunter @Kynes99 Oh yeah it’s crap alright, luckily all Aussies will have access to a great NBN connection

  • DoodyDarren Darren (@DoodyDarren) reported

@bollgare @BurkeHellibee @AlboMP Bollocks. I frame it from a technology and social standpoint. I had "internet" before there even was a public internet. Dial-up. Bulletin boards and remote work (in the age of dumb terminals). The NBN brought decent internet to places that never had it.

  • bollgare Matt (@bollgare) reported

@DoodyDarren @BurkeHellibee @AlboMP It looks really stupid to have expensive fibre to homes. When the people end up useing a mobile. You are an advocate for the useless fibre in between, that's not used (Gov NBN)! obsolete.

  • DoodyDarren Darren (@DoodyDarren) reported

@bollgare @BurkeHellibee @AlboMP Again you have it backwards. 1. The internet is now an essential service. Everyone must have access. Government and private services alike have moved most customer functions online. 2. NBN doesn't roll out only to profitable areas. That's the great thing about public utilities.
