Grant Dewberry (@BigunitGrant) reported from Hervey Bay, Queensland@MichelleKHarper yay!! NBN is finally connected & working. We’re back online after 5 weeks of no internet & hotspotting our iPhones. That’s pretty good service, you’ll never match that in Canada 😊

Grant Dewberry (@BigunitGrant) reported from Hervey Bay, Queensland@MichelleKHarper You won’t believe it. NBN won’t work, none of the troubleshooting worked, now will need to make an appointment for a technician to sort out the problem. Bonus; old internet connection now disconnected so we have no internet access at all #KillMeNow 😕

Grant Dewberry (@BigunitGrant) reported from Hervey Bay, QueenslandDear @Optus it’s been a good 25 years. But, you’re testing us on our changeover to @NBN_Australia Still no internet & 3 no show tech appointments to connect our FTTC so far. Tired of waiting for a tech who never turns up. Now considering what other options are available to us 😕

Greg McGarvie (@GregMcgarvie) reported from Hervey Bay, Queensland@NBN_Australia Appreciate your response! Strange the actual service provider passes the buck. Currently forced to mobile with better speeds! If you have a direct portal to Telstra so I don’t have to go through the long wait process that would be helpful!

Greg McGarvie (@GregMcgarvie) reported from Hervey Bay, Queensland@NBN_Australia Interesting I was forced by NBN from cable to their solution - halved my connection speed

zagundo (@zagundo) reported@NBN_Australia can we please get an update on the ongoing outage affecting Paddington, NSW, 2021? Has been over 24 hours now.

There’s Only One Jezza (@StandMeOver) reported@herecomessuper And don’t forget the useless **** is the one who gave us NBN. That basically created another government run Telstra. For a technology that was never required.

Scarab (@ScarabOfficial) reportedWow... #Starlink have dropped their price to around 1/10th of what it was, to try to attract customers in Australia, who are mainly, of course, on the #NBN. And for the first four months it's even cheaper than that, during their current promotion. Just a shame it's so slow.

Peter Strachan (@Peter_Strachan) reported@NBN_Australia, I have had no NBN service since the 11th of April in Cottesloe, WA. The date for reconnection keeps moving out. Do you have any serious information on when it will return and what is the problem?

LC ✝️ (@leeves_chou) reportedProof of occupancy – this document request is another interesting thing. To ensure the application is from a real resident at the property, NBN sometimes needs proof, like a lease contract or water bills that match the applicant's name and address. However, this process can really delay provisioning. ISPs can check if the LOC ID is empty and see that no service is connected; they could just sign the customer up. If there is an existing service and the name on file doesn’t match, send a message to the new customer that provisioning is stuck for xxx reason. If the name on file matches, they can just hook them up. The process could be so much easier!

Michael Brennan (@Michael44814776) reported@BamBam0667 @EnergyWrapAU No, nbn has cost far more due to LNP. LNP original costing: Promised $29.5B (2013 election); revised to $41B in Strategic Review. The evidence is that in the caucus , as detailed in Turnbull’s book, Abbott simply wanted LNP to be contrarian about nbn. They stopped the fibre rollout and replaced it with copper. At the time, LNPs message that nbn would go over budget was favoured due to a complicit media. For instance, when the ABC science editor did a comprehensive comparison between labour’s FTTP and LNP copper, the report was spiked until after the election, due to ABC management wanting to appease LNP. Then, under LNP, ABC did not have a science editor. Consider the subsequent dearth of reporting by ABC in following years about the biggest infrastructure project ever. Consider that Turnbull appointed a former business associate to be chair of ABC whilst a Director of NBN snd whilst a ceo of a supplier to NBN with a $100m contract for design and fabrication of copper based distribution boxes, which have subsequently been removed. So there is no surprise that the public were force fed the line that all that glitters is copper. The reality set in when the deterioration of the copper network became apparent to punters. The cost of NBN is now at approx $50B with $54B to 2030 to due to the replacement costs of LNPs copper systems with fibre. So Abbott and Turnbull cost the country many billions not to mention the years of misery and lost productivity by prolonging the copper network.

Berry Straw 🍓 (@ddnnddc) reportedACMA is NOT currently running a spectrum auction for LEO satellite broadband. In December 2025, ACMA decided against auctioning a large amount of expiring spectrum. Instead, they chose to renew the licenses held by mobile operators and NBN. Their reasoning was that auctions could disrupt existing services and slow down new technologies like low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Amazon's Project Kuiper is coming to Australia in mid-2026 through a major partnership with NBN Co. This will give Starlink its first real competition in the country, especially in regional and remote areas. This is generally good news for consumers because more competition usually means better prices and redundancy.

The Lord (@lord_tizza) reportedAnd Telstra support said it was a fault, after a hour and a half of trouble shooting. I checked NBN and looks like a service outage in our area - checked a couple of addresses in our road. How long do these usually take to resolve? I was looking forward to a good long weekend :(

BamBam 🇦🇺 🐕 (@BamBam0667) reported@EnergyWrapAU As much as I dislike Turdbull, you'd have to give him small credit for curtailing the NBN blowout that would have been. ALL 3 of these had the exact same problem. Contractors, with little Govt oversight, rorting the system for their own gain. Public servants writing 💩 contracts
