You know a storm is bad when you can't see the apartment tower that's a few blocks away, that you usually have a clear view of, AND your Foxtel is out.

Foxtel Satellite launched on 1/3/1999, some 9-10 months after Australia's first Pay TV provider Galaxy went under. As far as I know, Foxtel's cable network was switched off in Adelaide/Perth on 30/6/2023 and in the Eastern states on 24/10/2023 - the day after its 28th birthday.

The next time I hear the phrase, "Blockbuster "...💩 During the footy season, even with 2 teams around the bottom 4 on a a Friday night...."tonight's Blockbuster!". And Foxtel ads shouting at you, " Don't miss these Blockbuster Movies'"...yeah..woke Hollywood garbage.

@LUFC_BULL @GavWilson Yes, but the situation is very different there. DAZN has bought Foxtel, which was once Sky's sister down under. So they are the incumbent bidding to *keep* the rights and they have a satellite network. Very different from here when DAZN is an app with tiny market share.

From what I've been able to attain, these were the launch dates for Foxtel Cable in the other metro markets: *Brisbane/Gold Coast: 27/11/1995 *Adelaide 4/7/1996 *Perth: 7/2/1997 Newcastle, the NSW Central Coast, Canberra & Regional WA had to wait for Foxtel satellite's service.
