    @donwill Isn't Spotify telling you how much you cost them? You pay a fixed amount per month regardless of whether you use the service or not. What you listen to defines what they pay to artists. ...right? Or am I missing something?

    @Hardeyes the issue isn't with all the people who use spotify to listen to music. the issue is with an economic system that endlessly finds ways to funnel all the money upwards into the hands of billionaires. thanks for supporting us more directly!

    this doesn’t tell me anything, it’s meaningless. this points to the further exploitation of artists by spotify. They want us feel good to keep using their service. These cartoony fancy stats are nice and all but the pay isn’t up to scratch

    @Vin_Pertroel @macawcaw123 Apple Music is the second biggest music streaming service and it essentially offers feature parity with Spotify and is better in a few categories. Not really “better” across the board, but equal. Personally I just generally like to support competing services if they are worth it

    @superSGHP Similar. I am trying Apple Music now, which I already tried, didn’t like, and switched back to Spotify in 2019. Everything is terrible.

    @SpotifyCares Yep it still crashes whenever I try to view it, literally tried everything including uninstalling multiple times and clearing cash / data before doing so, changing settings, restarting phone. Had issues last year and really been looking forward to it!

    (1/2) Looking beyond the headline numbers, the most interesting takeaway metric for us from Spotify's #2020ArtistWrapped stats is the ratio of listeners to streams. We achieved large enough numbers for each, but it's telling that when broken down the ratio is just 2:3 ...

    @TheWrongtom Yeah. It does often boil down to “I want someone else to set up a system that massively benefits me. All those in favour say AYE!”. I’ve always favoured the idea of Spotify fees being ringfenced to be distributed amongst the releases a user actually listens to month to month.

    @joemuggs I wonder if part of the problem is that Spotify (and YouTube?) contribute streams to charts - I've never been sure that this is correct as nobody is making a transaction. But this does mean they have a more significance than they should, and an expectation of reward.
