Because when you're about to plunk down $1500 for a phone, or 3k for a phone+laptop, you want to touch them first, get advice, have your phone settings & chip transferred over.

I’ve just been sent on circles over and over and over. I’m currently sitting here in the Apple Store (for the third time) in as many months and have basically been abandoned while they help someone else. Their customer service has been horrendous and I am so frustrated! Apple Care my ***!

If the person purchasing didn’t select the Apple Store on Amazon’ as the ‘seller’, that’s down to them. If they selected it, then there is an issue to resolve. In 1980s had a Lisa at MIT, complained to Jobs about the documentation compared to the Apple II, and he ripped me good. In 2013 got a MacBook Pro. Ran crashme.c on it. Acted funny, genius at Apple store said it had water damage.
